Colony Landscape & Maintenance, Inc. was founded in January 1990 by Ed Ott on Colony Street in Mountain View, California — the inspiration behind our name and the beginning of a company built on craftsmanship, integrity, and a deep respect for the landscapes of the Bay Area.

In the mid‑1990s, Colony expanded its expertise into athletic field construction, renovation, and maintenance. What began as a natural extension of our capabilities quickly evolved into one of our defining specialties. Over the decades, we have had the privilege of building and restoring some of the Bay Area’s most significant and well‑used sports surfaces, supporting schools, communities, and athletes across the region.

As Silicon Valley grew into a global center of innovation, Colony played a role in shaping its outdoor environments. We have contributed to the development of numerous high‑profile corporate campuses, delivering thoughtful landscape installations that reflect the sophistication and ambition of the companies they surround.

In 2017, we broadened our services with the establishment of our Tree Division, enhancing our ability to provide comprehensive, value‑driven solutions for our clients. This addition strengthened our already robust offerings and reaffirmed our commitment to being a full‑service partner in landscape care and construction.

Today, Colony Landscape & Maintenance is proudly headquartered in Alviso, California. We remain locally owned, locally operated, and deeply rooted in the Bay Area. More than three decades after our founding, our mission endures: to deliver exceptional work, exceed expectations, and honor the Silicon Valley heritage that shaped who we are.
